Virus – a
generically used term in the copter industry that refers to software that
inserts malicious code into existing documents or even other programs,
which is then spread by various means. Early viruses were pranks.
Drive-by
Download (DBD) – malware installed without user consent or knowledge.
This malware can download spyware, a virus, etc., and this can happen
while viewing a website or popup window, or from an email.
Piggyback –
is a malware embedded within an otherwise harmless executable file.

Do’s & Don’ts
Do
Update your
computer protection regularly.
Disable the
message preview pane. Messages displayed in the preview pane are
automatically opened, including possible viruses.
Don’t
Open
from unknown senders
Open
attachments to an email that you are not expecting. Contact the sender
and verify what is being sent.
Follow mail links to web.
Click links to be removed form a mailing list. This validates your address
and can generate additional unwanted junk mail.
